Delphi Technologies to Become Full Frame Supplier and Accelerate Expansion of Engine Management Product Line
Delphi Technologies has announced its latest product line extensions for its North American aftermarket business. The rapid growth of the chassis line this year, driven by the importance of a comprehensive portfolio, positions the company to achieve its goal of becoming a full line supplier in the first quarter of 2020. Delphi Technologies also offers its customers a choice and increased parts availability by expanding its coverage in engine management, an initiative that resulted in double-digit growth for key products.
âAs we move quickly through our line creation process, we are providing our customers with new opportunities for much faster growth,â said Chad Smith, vice president, Aftermarket, North America. âBy expanding our commercial coverage in two key product categories for auto repair, we are demonstrating our investment in growing our customers’ businesses. And we’ve achieved that growth while maintaining our best-in-class product testing and validation procedures, so technicians can confidently install our parts every time.
The Delphi Technologies chassis line has more than doubled in size, bringing the number of parts to more than 8,000 in 2019. By year-end, sales coverage will increase to 97%, covering 26 major automotive brands. , both imported and domestic, including the latest models. applications through 2019. The chassis program includes control arms, tie rods, inner and outer tie rod ends, stabilizer bar links, ball joints, bushings, drag links, idler arms, pitman arms, swing arms and more.
Every part of the chassis is developed and designed based on a thorough dimensional and material analysis of OE designs. All parts are manufactured and tested to strict global technical requirements, capturing the engineering expertise of Delphi Technologies to ensure each part matches the original fit, form and function. For example, all of the suspension arm assemblies undergo 250,000 cycles in a three-axis test bench that simulates the braking, turning and traveling forces these parts will experience in the real world. Unlike many of its competitors, Delphi Technologies tests the entire assembly to ensure the structural integrity and durability of the arm, bushings and ball joint when they work together as a system, the company said. .
Delphi Technologies expanded its engine management portfolio this year by adding more than 250 SKUs, resulting in double-digit growth for engine sensors. This extension completes its full line of ignition coils and MAF sensors. Coverage for knock sensors increased by 40%, while MAP and camshaft position sensors increased by 30%. The company has also added new ABS wheel speed sensors, crankshaft position sensors and vehicle speed sensors, and plans to achieve 75% coverage of engine sensor sales by the end of this year. 2020. Delphi Technologies pursued smart consolidations for greater storage efficiency in this category, delivering higher coverage with fewer SKUs.
