Governor of Arunachal Presents Citation to 24th SIKH and 323rd Field Regiment

Governor of Arunachal Pradesh – Brig. (Dr.) BD Mishra (Retired) today presented citations to the 24th Battalion of the Sikh Regiment (24 SIKH) and 323rd Field Regiment Indian Army at Raj Bhavan in Itanagar.

On this occasion, the Governor cited the Battalion and the Regiment for their remarkable professional competence, their momentum in operational readiness and their good work in providing valuable assistance to the Civil Administration and the local population.

Colonel Kamaljeet Singh, Sena (SM) Medal, Commander along with Major Subedar Balbir Singh and youngest Sepoy Attar Singh received the citation for 24 SIKH.

Meanwhile, Colonel Aditya Kapoor, Commanding Officer, along with officiating Subedar Major Ravi Kumar and Junior Gunner Saurabh Kumar received the 323 Field Regiment citation.

The Governor commended 24 SIKH popularly known as “The Defenders of Namka Chu” for maintaining ZERO transgressions by enemy troops in Indian Territory and ensuring peace and balance along the Line of Control real (LAC).

He also appreciated the battalion for carrying out many social welfare programs, medical camps and goodwill gatherings for people in their area.

The battalion led historic events of “Swarnim Vijay Varsh” by carrying the flame of victory to “Khinzemane” where in 1959 His Holiness Dali Lama entered India from Tibet”. He also organized a “Holy Tree” motorcycle rally to “Holy Waters” to celebrate the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, he said.

In addition, the Governor commended the 323 Field Regiment, for its distinction in deploying to an altitude of 15,000 feet for the Border Management Posture, the highest among artillery units in the entire Easter Command.

He commended the regiment for its pivotal readiness role in providing artillery fire support to troops deployed at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in western Arunachal Pradesh; and for helping Vidyashree – the Goodwill School for underprivileged children in Tawang.
